The Little Acorn Nature Detectives program for children ages 3-5 encourages learning about nature through stories, crafts and hands-on learning. This revised program can be done at Sommer Park or an off site location of your choice. Gather a group of children, and let us show them the wonders of the outdoors. Registration required. Please call 691-8423 for additional information.
Camp for a Day (CFAD)
The Camp for a Day program, from June through August at Sommer Park, is perfect for home-schoolers, day care centers or a group of friends wanting organized fun! Camp options include: canoeing, nature hike/craft, pond study, 1850 Pioneer Life or campfire cooking. Times: 9-11 am or 1-3 pm Fee: $4/student (min. 10 students required)
Educational Programs for Students & Scouts
The park is ideal for outdoor learning opportunities for Adventure Outdoor canoe or fishing (with a cookout) or a 1850s Illinois Pioneer Homestead Program. Let us help your Boy or Girl Scouts earn those fun and exciting conservation or environmental badges.
Attention Program Coordinators & Activity Directors!
We can arrange a special program for your clients at Sommer Park. Consider hikes on our scenic trails, canoeing, and fishing. We can also offer pioneer history or genealogy at our homestead, cemetery, or one-room schoolhouse, along with a campfire or hayrack ride.
