CRAFT CLASSES 

Crochet for All Levels -Mary Nell Hayes

Learn basic crochet stitches such as chain, single crochet, and double crochet and leave with an in-depth knowledge of crochet terms and helpful hints.  If you wish to do additional work outside of class you can create 7 x 9 inch rectangles to donate for a ‘Warm Up America’ afghan.  Supply list provided upon registration.

Intermediate Crochet -Mary Nell Hayes

Students should have a basic knowledge of crochet or have completed a basic crochet class.  Knowledge of basic arithmetic will be helpful.  Granny squares, crochet in a circle and crocheting with beads will be taught.  Additional work outside class is available in creating 7x9 inch rectangles donated for a ‘Warm Up America’ afghan.  Supply list provided upon registration.

Knitting for All Levels -Mary Nell Hayes

In days of old, knitting was for MEN only.  During this course, both men and women will learn basic knitting stitches such as knit and purl. At the end of the course, students will be able to read a pattern, execute basic stitches and finish a project. Helpful knitting hints will be shared.  Supply list provided upon registration.

Be a Knifty Knitter -Mary Nell Hayes

You don’t need to know how to knit, make a scarf or hat in Knifty Knitter.  Using the round looms we will make hats with brims; pom poms are optional.  Scarves will be taught on the round loom and also on the rectangular loom.  You will make a magic scarf or a flat scarf on a round loom and enjoy them this fall.  Taking the scarf off the loom requires some single crochet, which will be taught.

Hardanger Embroidery

Come learn a traditional Norwegian style of counted-thread embroidery to make a small bookmark or springtime sachet.  This white-on-white embroidery has a lacy look when finished.

Ready, Set, Scrap!

Calling all young ‘Whipper-Scrappers!’  Come join other young croppers and learn a variety of techniques while making your own mini scrapbooking projects.  You will create something new each session.  Please bring fifteen to twenty 4 x 6 prints (or smaller), to enter in your very own scrapbook.  All other supplies will be provided.

Bow Making -Lisa Williamson

Think of all the times you wished you could make a bow! Now is your chance to learn. This class will teach you how to make bows for pews, holiday decorations, corsages, craft projects and more. Cake Decorating for Beginners -Lisa Williamson

Improve your baking skills and learn recipes for great frosting. Learn to decorate your own cakes with borders, flowers, leaves, side drapes, roses, cartoon designs, script writing and more!  And the best part: you take home your own finished cakes! Supplies are additional.

Sew Fun

Children have long learned the fundamentals of sewing by creating clothes for dolls. This class will teach the basics of clothes-making for the American Girl doll, or any other 18 inch doll.  Your budding stylist will make an apron and nightgown during the class, with the opportunity to make more advanced projects if time permits.

Mom & Me - American Girl Knit Sweaters

Come enjoy the thrill of creating a beautiful sweater for an 18 inch doll and learn the basics of knitting techniques.  A cardigan as well as a boat-neck pullover sweater will be taught.  Children and parents or children and grandparents will work together to create these beautiful sweaters.  Knowledge of knit stitches such as knit, purl, bind off, cast on, increase, decrease will be helpful, but not necessary.
