Here are just a few of the unique products and product lines we offer:

Eco-Friendly Household Products

The Trailhead Nature Store carries a variety of laundry detergents, cleaning products, dish soaps, paper towels and more -- all designed to give you a clean home and a clear conscience!

Did you know?

Of the approximately 72,000 chemicals approved by the EPA for use in cleaning products, health and environmental data is available for less than 10% -- that means there are about 69,900 chemicals left that haven't been researched!

If every household in the U.S. replaced just one bottle of 28-oz. petroleum-based dishwashing liquid with a bottle of Seventh Generation brand, we would save 118,700 barrels of oil -- or enough to heat and cool 6,800 U.S. homes for one year!

Bird Seed & Birdhouses

This place is for the birds! Choose from a variety of birdseed, including Forest Park Special Mix. We carry Yankee birdfeeders (they come with a lifetime warranty), bird bath heaters, squirrel baffles, and much more. Plus, join our Seed Savers Club and receive a free bag of your choice at $90! We keep track of your purchases -- no cards, no hassles!

Did you know?

Birds' feet don't freeze to birdfeeders, even during the coldest days -- simply because they have no sweat glands.

Burt's Bees

If you don't know Burt's Bees, then stop by the Trailhead Nature Store and try out some of these fantastic personal care products. Each time you make a purchase you are helping to support Burt's Bees conservation and land acquisition efforts. The folks at Burt's believe that if a product isn't safe enough to eat, then it isn't safe enough for your skin!

Did you know?

There are no labeling laws that require manufacturers to list all of the ingredients in personal care products.

A product can consist of 99% synthetic ingredients and still be labeled as "natural"!

Our skin can absorb about 60% of what is put on it -- the average woman absorbs about 4 pounds of chemicals per year just through personal care products!

Eco-Friendly Clothing

Earth Creations clothing is dyed using an ancient process that combines clays of different colors with sustainable grown fibers such as hemp and organic cotton. There are no chemical dyes used in the manufacturing of this clothing. We also carry 100% recycled fabric shirts and unbleached cotton, as well as a variety of nature minded t-shirts and sweatshirts.

Did you know?

The conventional dyeing
process requires large
quantities of salt. When
released, this salt wreaks
havoc on many of our natural
systems.

Hemp is one of the oldest and strongest fibers and was used as early as 2000 B.C. The first American flag was sewn in hemp and many of the first wagons going West were as well. Hemps' natural resistance to insects means that it grows easily without the use of chemicals and pesticides.

Shade Grown Coffee

Why shade grown, you say? Shade grown coffee is good for the environment, birds and people. The full sun plantations that are typical of many commercial coffee brands are achieved through deforestation, pesticides, herbicides, and fertilizers. They also destroy important migratory bird habitat and long-term options for local people. Shade grown coffee helps support generations of farmers, provides rainforest preservation and eliminates the need for added chemicals.

Did you know?

According to the Rainforest Alliance, studies showed that shade grown coffee plantations in Mexico and Columbia supported more than 97% more bird species than did the full sun plantations.

Books & Field Guides

We carry a large selection of nature titles, environmental how-to books, and field guides. If you enjoy discussing what you've read with others, then consider joining the Forest Park Book Club-- open to all readers interested in nature, the environment, and the human connection to the earth.

Did you know?

You can order most titles through the Trailhead Nature Store. CORE members even get their discount! Book Club members get a 25% discount on all Book Club books when they pre-pay.

Bee Nesters & Shelters

Mason bees nest in holes in wood and use mud to divide and plug the cells, hence the name "mason." These native bees are non-aggressive "polite pollinators," and since they're solitary, they never swarm! Nesting shelters are ideal for organic gardeners or anyone who wants to increase fruit tree production. The Trailhead Nature Store carries everything you need to attract these beneficial little bees to your trees.

Did you know?

Native mason bees are up
to 90xs more effective at
pollinating than non-native
honeybees.

While honeybees may forage
as far as 5 miles from their hive,
mason bees like to "stick close to
home" and are therefore of great
benefit to trees in their immediate surroundings.
