Environmental Health & Safety Manager - Business Division

POSITION: Full Time


REQUIREMENTS:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Health, Occupational Safety and Health or related field. Although a degree is preferred, extensive experience in a like position with similar duties and responsibilities may be substituted for part of the educational requirement.
• Prior experience in safety/risk management with experience in the public sector strongly preferred.
• Must be well-organized, self-motivated and detail orientated.
• Ability to create, enhance, organize and conduct training and education programs that communicate effectively the concepts required.
• Ability to promote safety and motivate employees throughout the district to cooperate fully in accomplishing occupational safety and risk management goals.
• Extensive of knowledge state, federal and local environmental safety and health laws and standards applicable to public employers.

DUTIES:
• Develop goals and objectives for compliance program enhancements including training, recordkeeping, on-site visits, environmental data gathering, and employee behavior observation.
• Gather and document facts relevant to reported accident and injury investigations and identify potential contributory root causes for intervention development.
• Completes inspections of district properties and equipment as required including identification and documentation of potential safety and risk exposures with the development of effective countermeasure strategies where necessary to minimize exposure situations.
• Performs playground and safety audits according to established approved standards. Analyzes inspection records and develops playground maintenance recommendations to ensure continued compliance with approved standards.
• Facilitate the achievement of all components essential to satisfaction of park district and PDRMA training goals (i.e. training module development, training presentations, and database management) intended to achieve compliance with protective provisions outlined in state, federal and local laws and regulations and established park policy.
• Maintains certifications required to collect asbestos samples for testing, NRPA Playground Safety Inspector, and Medic First Aid CPR/AED Instructor. Must complete OSHA 501 occupational safety and health program or its equivalent.
• Required to be on call for emergencies and must work some evenings and weekends.

OTHER:
• Starting salary range is $32,000 to $37,000 annually depending on qualifications and experience.

Park Manager of Bradley Park - Parks Division

POSITION: Full-Time


REQUIREMENTS:
• Bachelor’s degree in horticulture, park and recreation management or related field preferred, with at least two years experience.
• Must have experience in grounds maintenance, athletic field preparation/set-up, operating tractors, mowing equipment and machinery used in grounds maintenance.
• Should have experience in using fertilizers and pesticides. Should have experience in building maintenance and the equipment/materials used in building maintenance.
• Supervisory experience required.
• A good knowledge of plant material, soil characteristics and their requirements and of preventative maintenance procedures for grounds maintenance equipment.
• Insight into good business management practices, personnel management and public relations is necessary.
• Must be able to deal promptly and effectively with emergency situations.
• Must have or obtain a valid pesticide applicator's license.
• Must have or obtain a valid Illinois State drivers license.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

DUTIES:
• Maintenance and general appearance of Bradley Park, including building, facilities and grounds.
• Keeping grass mowed, shrubs trimmed and general care of all plants in the park.
• Performing and instructing the preventative maintenance on all equipment.
• Scheduling maintenance work and procedures and keeping time records as directed.
• Supervising full and part-time workers; court workers; volunteers; and urban league workers assigned to the maintenance operations of the park.
• Maintaining and preparing athletic fields as required.
• Preparing an annual budget. Keeping an accurate accounting of all expenditures within the park budget.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

OTHER:
• Ability to work weekends and holidays.
