Our professional Horticulturists are available to present a wide variety of plant- and gardening- related talks and demonstrations to your community group, garden club, or special-interest society. We would also love to show you around the Garden and let you get to know it personally with a private tour. Prices start as low as $40 on-site; call 686-3362 for details.

Landscape Workshop: Build a Hypertufa Trough
Come join instructor Marshall Hopkins in this landscape workshop on Saturday, May 12, and learn to build your own hypertufa trough! In this fun, hands-on class, you will learn to make your own stone trough, great for herbs, alpine plants, hostas or just bringing personality to your patio or porch. This is one of our most popular classes, so be sure to sign up early! Please bring your own gloves and a tray or piece of plywood to carry your trough home on. PRE-REGISTRATION BY MAY 5 IS REQUIRED. Container Gardens for Kids
Kids ages 6-13 can learn how to design, create and plant a container garden with horticulturist Elona Mason on Saturday, May 12. We will provide the container and plants to craft this special container that makes a great Mother's Day gift. Dress for a mess, and plan to have a great time.
Recycled Crafting: Soda Bottle Bird Feeders
Attend this class on Saturday, May 12 at the Garden and make a great gift for Mom! Ages 6-12. Wanting to make a unique gift for Mom on Mother’s Day? Wanting to feed the birds and help the environment at the same time? Then come join instructor Dominica Rogers and learn how to make a bird feeder from a soda bottle! PRE-REGISTRATION BY MAY 5 IS REQUIRED.
Tapas: Small Plates with Big Flavor
Learn all about tapas dining on Thursday, May 31 -- presented by OSF Dietetic Interns Anna Binder, Crystal Casper and Stefanie Djuric. You'll learn about the history of tapas and how to make a variety of these tasty, bite-sized dishes with flavors ranging from sweet to savory-- plus you'll get samples of everything! Register by 5/25.
1st Sunday Garden Walks
These tours on the first Sunday of the month: 6/3, 7/1, 8/5 and 9/2 are led by Garden manager Bob Streitmatter and Staff. They will take you through the Garden, showcasing some of the great plants and trees in the collection. You can enjoy the Garden in all its beauty and maybe even get some ideas for your own garden. No need to register; just come to the Garden Shop on one of the dates indicated (1-2 pm), and we will start our tour from there! Fee: standard Garden admission
Kids Scavenger Hunt
Children ages 7-12 will enjoy the Kids Scavenger Hunt on Saturday, July 21 from 10 am to 12 pm. Horticulturist Melissa Friend will guide the kids through the Garden, giving hints on where to look to find the stuff on her list along the way. Prizes are awarded to those who find the most.
Tree ID & Leaf Collection
Ages 8+ can learn the basics of tree identification and complete your leaf collection too on Sunday 9/16 or Sunday 9/23 from 1-2 p.m. Leaf collecting will be permitted under the supervision of staff. Please bring/recycle an old magazine to press your leaves in. No need to register; just come to the Garden Shop on the date and time indicated, and we will start our tour from there. Admission cost: $2
