Girls Softball League

Welcome to the NEW and IMPROVED softball program for the Peoria Area! We are very excited to launch our first year of the Peoria Girls Softball Association! The PGSA program will run mid-May to mid-July for all divisions.

Girls in PGSA will learn the basic fundamentals of softball to advanced principles based on their individual skill levels and divisions. If you are a first time player or advanced, this program is for you!

Registration will begin in April and forms will be available at the Peoria Park District Recreation Office in Glen Oak Park. Deadline for pre-registration is April 21. Evaluation information will be given at the time of registration. NOTE: Registrations are NOT taken at the Park District.

DIVISIONS
Rookie Division: Grades 1-3
• Coach Pitch. The primary focus is to learn basic fundamentals and rules. Girls will learn the infield, outfield, batting and base running and begin basic pitching and catching.
Beginning Fast Pitch: Grades 4-5
• Player Pitch. Girls are taught how to build on the basic fundamentals and learn the best techniques for their offensive and defensive game. Fundamentals are reinforced. Advanced techniques such as stealing and bunting are introduced.
Advanced Fast Pitch: Grades 6 & 7 OR High School: Grades 8-12
• Building on the fundamentals, girls are given the opportunity to advance their knowledge with stealing, bunting and many other advanced techniques.
