Marketing/Photography/Graphic Design Internship
DESCRIPTION
The Division of Marketing/Public Relations is offering a 12-15 hour/week internship, with an emphasis on photography and graphic design. The intent is to expose students to the marketing and advertising of a variety of Park District facilities and events, utilizing photography and graphic design.
REQUIREMENTS
• An interest in the field of photography, marketing, graphic design, and/or advertising
• Proficiency with PC’s, including programs such as Photoshop and InDesign
• Graphic design or layout experience - Applicant should be prepared to show examples of work from real use or class
• Ability to commit 10-12 weeks to the experience
RESPONSIBILITIES
• Will assist Marketing Division with a variety of duties which may include:
o Photographing events/sports/classes
o Photographing PPD facilities
o Organizing/cataloging photo files
o Designing posters, print ads, online ads, other collateral materials as needed, depending on interest and skill level.
• Provide photography tutorials to Marketing and other PPD staff
• Organize Clip Art and graphics files
COMPENSATION
Compensation package available pending negotiation between student, university and PPD.
Recreation Intern
RECREATION INTERN
POSITION: Summer Internship 2012
REQUIREMENTS:
• High school diploma required; some college experience highly preferred.
• Knowledge of computers including Microsoft Office and experience in event planning.
• Ability to work independently and maintain a flexible schedule.
• Display a good understanding of the philosophy of recreation sports programs.
• Some knowledge of sports skills and methods required.
• Ability to work cooperatively with private organizations and special interest groups.
DUTIES:
• Serve as the League Coordinator, responsible for being the main contact and direct representative of the Tee Ball/Coach Pitch Program.
• Oversee registration, coach team selection, and pre-season meetings.
• Assist in the inventory and distribution of supplies and equipment.
• Assist in the recruiting and hiring of staff along with the scheduling, supervising, and evaluation of part time staff.
• Assist the coaches in the setup/tear-down of practices and games.
• Prepare records and reports including payroll, league/event schedules, evaluations, and marketing materials.
• Additional duties and experience can be gained from assisting in the planning, setup, take down, and administration of events such as: Youth and Adult Tennis Program, Sand Volleyball and Adult Softball Leagues.
• Perform all other duties as assigned.
OTHER:
Evenings and weekends will be required.
Athletics Division
Athletics Intern
POSITION: Spring Internship (February-May 2012)
REQUIREMENTS:
• Previous computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and Power Point
• Ability to work independently and maintain a flexible schedule and will be primarily required to work afternoon and evening hours
• Have a good understanding of the philosophy of recreational sports program, along with some knowledge of sports skills and methods. Experience in event planning is preferable
• Ability to work cooperatively with private organizations, special interest groups and maintain a good relationship with staff and promote a positive image through daily interaction with the public
• A valid driver’s license
DUTIES:
• The candidate will help and be primarily involved in the Youth Soccer Program but will be able to gain additional experience in other departments under the Recreation Division.
• The candidate will develop goals and objectives for their experience and be asked to evaluate them at the end of their internship
• Assist the Sports Coordinator in the planning, administering and evaluating of the Summer Activities including but not limited to the Hershey Track and Field Event, Youth Baseball (Tee Ball, Coach Pitch, Minors, Majors, Pony Travel & House), Adult Dodgeball League, Wiffleball Tournament, Ultimate Frisbee Tournament and Youth and Adult Tennis Program, Sand Volleyball and Adult Softball Leagues
• All other duties as assigned
