RIVERFRONT EVENT STAFF

REQUIREMENTS:

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• Previous janitorial work preferred
• Reliable transportation
• Ability to work a flexible schedule including weekends, evenings, and holidays
• Ability to work harmoniously with the public, City of Peoria Personnel, and Peoria Park District staff
• Ability to perform physically demanding work
• Ability to follow picture based event layouts

DUTIES:

• Responsible for assisting with set up and tear down of RiverFront events which includes, but is not limited to, moving fence, setting up tents, tables, chairs, and trash removal
• Assist in the inventory and distribution of supplies and equipment
• Assist in maintaining the appearance and cleanliness of all designated areas of the RiverFront
• Assist managers and in some cases, 3rd party clients, with routine duties during the course of an event
• Ability to perform all other duties as assigned

OTHER:

• Bending and stooping, and ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds required.
• Starting wage is $8.50 per hour
• NOTE: This job is a seasonal position from mid-May until mid-October. There are no set hours. Hours depend on the number of events scheduled and the times they are scheduled.

ANIMAL ENCOUNTER AMBASSADOR

POSITION: Seasonal Part-Time (16 – 32 hours per week during season)

REQUIREMENTS:
• Education: Minimum of two years of high school.
• Experience in customer service helpful.
• Aptitude for on-the-job training and ability to follow both written and oral instructions.
• Must have a pleasing personality and courteous manner. Must be dependable.

DUTIES:
• Greeting Zoo guests in an inviting manner.
• Preparing and selling appropriate animal food items according to directions.
• Observing animal/guest interactions and taking necessary steps to stop and/or correct problems.
• Handling cash and cash transactions reliably.
• Checking messages and work schedule at start of shift. Preparing assigned areas before public arrives.
• Keeping all assigned areas and work spaces clean and “visitor friendly”.
• Cleaning assigned area at end of business day to established standards.
• Staying current on Zoo events and information to share with guests and be able to answer questions.
• Follow all safety procedures pertaining to the duties performed. Wearing proper designated uniform.
• All other duties as assigned.

OTHER:
• Starting wage is $8.25 per hour.
• Under the supervision of the Curator of Animals.
• Ability to stand for long periods of time. Ability to lift 25 pounds. Ability to operate radio.
• Weekends and holidays required. Position begins in early May.

ASSISTANT ZOO CUSTODIAN

POSITION: Part-Time (Average of 24 - 28 hours/week)

REQUIREMENTS:
• High school diploma or equivalent is desired.
• Background and some work experience in custodial building maintenance and grounds keeping.
• Ability to operate standard mechanized cleaning equipment.
• Ability to prepare facility for programs, meetings, and rentals according to daily schedule.
• Ability to perform routine grounds keeping functions as directed.
• Ability to follow oral and written instructions.

DUTIES:
• Assisting in maintaining the appearance and cleanliness of all designated areas of the zoo.
• Monitoring of maintenance supplies, equipment and tools.
• Assisting in animal moves and loading as necessary.
• Assisting in programs and promotions of the Zoo.
• Keeping maintenance areas neat and orderly.
• All other duties as assigned.

OTHER:
• The work requires some physical exertion in handling supplies, equipment and materials. Prolonged standing, bending and stooping, and ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds is required on a periodic basis.
• Starting wage is $9.50 per hour.
• Evenings, weekends, and holidays may be required.

GUEST SERVICES - LODGE CASHIER/CONCESSION

POSITION: Part-time

REQUIREMENTS: 
• Minimum of two years of high school
• Experience in food service preferred. Experience working with computers & money handling helpful.
• Ability to accurately handle & serve food in a safe and efficient manner and accurately handle money.
• Aptitude for on-the-job training and ability to follow both written and oral instructions.
• Must possess pleasing personality, courteous manner, good customer service skills and dependability.

DUTIES:
• Selling and preparing concession items accurately and safely.
• Keeping concession areas clean & sanitary and attend to all customer needs.
• Stocking, cleaning and performing regular open/close procedures.
• Assisting in setup and working rental events as needed.
• All other duties assigned

OTHER:
• Requires some physical exertion, prolonged standing, bending and stooping.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds is required.

GUEST SERVICES ASSISTANT - RENTAL/CONCESSION

POSITION: Part-time

REQUIREMENTS:
• Degree in business, hospitality, management or related field; exceptional experience may substitute part off/all of education preference
• Minimum of two (2) years experience in event management, sales and customer service.
• Experience in retail and/or food service and bookkeeping preferred.
• Ability to work weekend, holidays and special events
• Must possess good customer service and organizational skills.
• Computer experience is required
• Ability to work harmoniously with the public and Peoria Park District Personnel

DUTIES:
• Assisting in rental sales, planning and oversight
• Assisting in daily operation of areas.
• Serving as an on-site observer to maintain quality control of lodge operations
• Assisting in the preparation of appropriate revenue and expenditure reports
• All other duties assigned

OTHER:
• Prolonged standing, bending, stooping and ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds are required on a periodic basis.
• Year round position with an average of 28-30 hours per week
• Weekends & Evenings required
• $10-$11.50 per hour – dependent upon qualifications

Program Aide
Location: Logan Recreation Center
Pay: $8.25 - $9.00 per hour
Schedule: M-F, 2pm-6pm or 3pm-6pm and Special Events
Individuals needed to help supervise youth. Program Aides help youth with homework, computers, or other after school activities. High school diploma required, youth experience preferred.

Van Driver/Program Aide
Location: Logan Recreation Center
Pay: $8.50 - $9.00 per hour
Schedule: M-F, 2pm-6pm and Special Events
Individuals needed to help transport youth from school and on field trips. Program Aides help youth with homework, computers, or other after school activities. Clean driving record and high school diploma required, youth experience preferred.

CASHIER / CONCESSION STAFF / SLIDE MONITOR

POSITIONS: Part-time / Seasonal


ALL POSITIONS:

• Responsible for ensuring safety of guests on slides
• Manage slide traffic

TENNIS
1. Tennis Instructors – Youth & Adult Lessons at Richwoods, Glen Oak, Bradley Park, Northtrail Park and Sommer Park
Days: M-F Starts: June 3 Ends: August 8
Hours: 8am-4pm & 5:30-7:30pm
Pay: $8.00-$8.75 per hour
Experienced tennis players are preferred.

YOUTH BASEBALL
1. Tee Ball / Coach Pitch Coordinator – Bradley Park, Von Steuben, Lindbergh & Peoria Stadium
Days: M-R, Sa Starts: May 27 Ends: July 20
Hours: 5-8pm (M-Th) and 8:30-1pm (Sa)
Pay: $8.50-9.00 per hour
Assists with Tee Ball and Coach Pitch program including scheduling, staff supervision, etc.

2. Tee Ball / Coach Pitch Site Supervisors – Bradley Park, Von Steuben, &Lindbergh,
Days: M-R, Sa Starts: June 3 Ends: July 20
Hours: 5-8pm (M-Th) and 8:30am-1pm (Sa)
Pay: $8-$10.00 per hour
Candidate will setup, take down and help supervise nightly practices at each site. Candidate will also serve as umpire for certain tee ball and coach pitch games.

Youth Baseball Umpire

The Athletics Department is looking for umpires for our youth baseball program. Umpires are needed for the minor leagues, 3rd and 4th grade, and majors, 5th and 6th grade. Umpire experience and certification is a plus, but not required.

Locations: Franciscan Recreation Complex, Kellar, and Von Steuben
Dates: May 20 through July 26
Hours: Monday-Thursday Evenings and Saturdays
Pay: $20-25 per game

Youth Baseball Instructor

The Athletics Department is looking for instructors for our youth baseball morning clinics. The instructors will be running drills and teaching baseball skills to participants in 3rd through 6th grade. Previous baseball experience or knowledge is required.

Location: Von Steuben
Dates: June 4 through July 11
Hours: Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10am-12pm
Pay: $8.25 per hour

Adult Softball Scorekeeper

Location: Peoria Stadium
Starts April 14 and ends mid October
Hours: Monday through Friday: 6pm-10pm, Sunday: 5pm-9pm
Pay: $8.25 per game
Games typically are one hour long. Scorekeepers will keep the official score book and update the scoreboard throughout the game. General baseball or softball knowledge is preferred, but not required.

Adult Softball Umpire
Location: Peoria Stadium
Starts April 14 and ends mid October
Hours: Monday through Friday: 6pm-10pm, Sunday: 5pm-9pm
Pay: $14-18 per game
Umpires are needed for our men’s and co-rec leagues. Games typically are one hour long. Previous experience and umpire certifications are a plus, but not required.

JOB TITLE: CLAY COURT TENNIS MAINTENANCE WORKER

TIME FRAME: Su-Sa Starts: May 1 Ends: October 31

HOURS: Early morning, mid afternoon and evening hours; weekends required.

PAY: $8.25 – $9.00/hr depending on experience.

QUALIFICATIONS: Experience – Some basic outdoor lawn and yard maintenance experience along with operation of weed eater and leaf blower.

Knowledge and Ability - Basic knowledge of landscaping, including the care of trees, shrubs, lawns and construction work pertaining thereto. Ability to follow written and oral instructions. Aptitude for on-the-job training.

Must maintain a valid Illinois State Driver's License.

Personal - Work record that shows good health and dependability. Neat appearance, pleasing personality and courteous manner.


DUTIES: Under the supervision of the Sports Coordinator to whom assigned, the Tennis Clay Court Maintenance is responsible for:

Opening or closing of tennis courts ensuring noted areas are safe and playable.

Resurfacing of clay tennis courts on a daily basis.

Maintaining the cleanliness of tennis courts located inside Glen Oak Park.

Maintaining tennis walkways, tennis courts and maintenance shed and building.

Following all safety procedures that pertain to the duties performed. Supporting all aspects of the Park District's safety program.

Performing other duties as assigned.

Van Driver

The Heart of Illinois Special Recreation Association (HISRA) is the result of a desire on the part of your park district to provide quality recreation programs and services to individuals with disabilities and special needs. HISRA and its member districts enthusiastically support the spirit and intent of the Americans with Disabilities Act. HISRA is committed to providing opportunities for each individual to enjoy recreation activities in the least restrictive environment. Below are the two positions that HISRA is currently looking to hire. We are looking for responsible and caring individuals who wish to spend their time and knowledge with HISRA and its special populations.

Camp Free to Be (Peoria and Washington locations)
Camp Free to Be (CFTB) accommodates participants ages 4 – 21 with multiple and/or severe disabilities. Camper to staff ratio can be as low as 1:1 in order to meet the recreational and personal care needs of each camper.

Summer Daze (Peoria location)
Summer Daze accommodates participants ages 13 – 21. Summer Daze meets at HISRA and goes out into the community each day for activities and field trips. Camper to staff ratio is 1:5.

Camp Connections (Peoria and Washington locations)
Camp Connections accommodates participants ages 4 – 21 with Autism Spectrum Disorders and other developmental disabilities. This program works with participants on social skill development.

Afternoon Fun (Washington location)
Afternoon Fun accommodates participants ages 4 – 21 with multiple and/or severe disabilities. Camper to staff ratio can be as low as 1:1 in order to meet the recreational and personal care needs of each camper.

Inclusion Services (Chillicothe, Morton, Peoria, and Washington Locations)
HISRA Staff provide inclusion services in camps and programs offered at our 4 member park district locations. These services take place in a variety of programs including: programs, camp programs, sports programs, etc…

HISRA PROGRAMS
HISRA offers a variety of programming during the evening and on weekends. HISRA also offers a recreation program for adults during the day, Special Olympics Sports and bowling programs.

Positions Available:

Program Leader
• $9.00 to $10.00 per hour based on experience
• Responsible for the development and implementation of planned outings, the personal care, supervision and behavior management of participants. The supervision of program aides and volunteers.

Program Aide
• $8.25 to $8.75 per hour based on experience
• Responsible for assisting the Program Leader in the implementation and supervision of the planned outings, the personal care, supervision and behavior management of participants.

All staff will be required to attend a mandatory staff orientation and training June 3-7, 2013. Leaders and drivers will have additional training commitments 5/28/13 – 5/31/13. All staff must be able to commit to working at HISRA for the duration of the camp season (5/28/13 through 8/13/13).

LIFEGUARDS
The Peoria Park District has part-time openings for lifeguards. Must have a current Ellis NPWLTP certification, or be able to complete an upcoming training. Call Sue Wheeler at 309-282-1531 for information on training classes.
