Concrete is sprayed onto forms and
then painted,
creating a naturalistic rock backdrop
for many of the exhibits. |

When complete, this hut will have a
thatched
roof and rocky walls. It will house small animals such as mole rats, dung
beetles and snakes. |

The new Zoo will provide animals and
keepers with
more room for exhibits, night enclosures and a
larger food prep kitchen. |

One look at the scale of this doorway
tells you what animals will be housed here! The doors to the
giraffe house are a whopping 18 feet tall!

Work continues on the elevated
walkway that
will allow Zoo patrons the chance to literally be
"head to head" with a
giraffe. |

This dry moat will provide a natural
separation
between
the tigers and the rhinos. Note the real
tree roots that were added to the edge
of the
"cliff" for a more realistic effect.
